Function:
The Auditor-Controller is the chief accounting officer of the county. Responsibilities include the accounting of the county’s revenues, expenditures, assets, liabilities, fund balances and related fiduciary responsibilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Among these duties include payroll and payroll reporting; the audit of vendor claims; warrant writing; public assistance accounting; extending the property tax roll and apportioning the collections; financial statements and the compilation of the county’s budget.
Objective:
The goal of this department is to deliver the best possible service with the resources that are available, providing accurate and timely financial information to the Board of Supervisors, State of California, other county offices, special districts, and the citizens of Tehama County. The Auditor-Controller ensures that the county is reporting financial information to the public as required by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.
